In the early days of disco, the female-led, guitar-driven band A Taste of Honey received a crash course in the potential of the "hit single" when their very first recording, "Boogie Oogie Oogie", hit the top of the charts around the world. Both the single and album were certified platinum in the USA and gold in the UK and Japan. As a result, A Taste of Honey went on the nab the prestigious Grammy award for Best New Artist of The Year.
